Get Out The Vote - “New Leaf” by @alamedamusicpdx

Compared to the baroque pop of Nick Drake and the slow-core dream pop of early Low, this Portland, OR three-piece blends orchestral arrangements with modern instrumentation, thus blurring the lines of genres and moods.  At the core of Alameda issinger/guitarist Stirling Myles, cellist Jessie Dettwiler and clarinetist, Jenn Woodall. Joining them, in blending traditional folk song writing with lush symphonic compositions, is a rotating cast of collaborators from Horse Feathers, AgesandAges and various musicians from regional symphonies.
The members of Alameda have rich and long histories in making music.  When he wasn’t cutting his teeth in the Denver DIY hardcore scene, Stirling Myles traveled extensively throughout Mexico, Honduras, England, Ireland and along the East Coast, where he studied graffiti art.  It’s from his travels, and from his mother’s collection of old folk and prog records, where Myles finds most of his musical grounding, influence and inspiration as a song writer.  He met classically-trained celloist, Jessie Dettwiler, while the two studied Buddhism, writing and music in Boulder CO.  The trio is rounded out by Portland Symphony clarinetist, Jennifer Woodall.
